How to load, prime, set and store the instrument. Then the volume at every setting and the concentration in every cartridge.

instrument.

The seal is intact, the lot number matches its record, and the expiry has not passed.

Load a
cartridge.
Once per cartridge.
- 01Pull the cover off
It comes away just below the chrome ring.
- 02Unscrew the clear holder
Lift out the used cartridge if there is one.
- 03Reset the push rod
Let the rod inside the body fall back, or press it in until it sits flush.
- 04Slide the cartridge in
Sealed end first, so the seal ends up at the tip end, away from the dial.
- 05Screw the holder back on
Firm, not forced. A new cartridge takes more priming clicks than one already in use.

Attach, prime, set, dispense, store.
- 06Attach a tip
Push a new tip onto the end of the holder and twist until it seats. Take off the outer cap, then the inner cap, and keep the outer cap for taking the tip off.
- 07Prime
With the tip pointing up, give one click, press, and repeat until you feel resistance and a drop appears. The drop means the air is out.
- 08Set the dial
Turn until the window shows the position you need, counting clicks for anything between the numbers. Gone too far? Turn it back. Nothing leaves until you press.
- 09Dispense
With the tip over or inside the receiving vessel, press the dial all the way in until the window reads 0, then hold it there for six seconds.
- 10Store
Outer cap back on, push down and twist the tip off, straight into the sharps container. Cover back on, then back in the fridge at 2 to 8 °C, out of the light and never frozen.
Never store it with a tip attached. A tip left on lets air in and liquid out.

Keep going one click at a time until you feel resistance. Still nothing? Fit a new tip.
The dial turns freely whatever is left, so check the level through the clear holder first.
The tip is blocked or not seated. Fit a new tip and prime again.
The tip is cross-threaded. Take it off, bin it and fit a new one.
